SHABANIE Mine take their resurgence to the border town of Beitbridge where they take on ZRP Beitbridge in a Zifa Central Soccer League encounter (CSL) at Dulivhadzimu Stadium today. The asbestos miners are a point behind Blanket Mine who are at the top of the log after amassing 36 points. Buoyed by the sponsorship by Zvishavane- based retail giant Pote Holdings who have promised to pay winning bonuses for the next two games, the Chinda Boys are expected to fight tooth and nail to collect maximum points.

Blanket faces a relatively easy assignment when they play host to fellow gold miners Jessie Mine at Blanket in a Gwanda derby. The Chinda Boys will be hoping for a slip up of the log leaders and if that happens and they beat ZRP Beitbridge, they will be back at the top.

Tendai Chikuni, the Shabanie Mine gaffer said it was imperative for his charges to pick maximum points in order to be within reach of the log leaders.

“I am happy with our performance so far in the second half of the season. It is important for us to carry the form so that we maintain the pressure on Blanket. However, we are not worried about what they are doing but rather our focus is to ensure that we pick points in every game that we play and our match tomorrow is no exception,” he said.

He also called for fair play following incidences of violence and bad officiating in past games. “We want the best teams to be promoted and I hope that fans do not resort to violence and I also pray that match officials conduct themselves well in the spirit of fair play,” said Chikuni.

Elsewhere, fourth placed Ivan Hoe who are the dark horses in the promotional race host FC Platinum Under 19 at Amaveni in a tricky encounter.
