Sipho Mazibuko, renowned for her outstanding contributions to the modelling industry and notably as the visionary behind Miss Rural Zimbabwe, is embarking on a mission to bring Zimbabwe’s National Dress fabric to prominence across the nation.

Recognising its significance beyond political connotations, Mazibuko aims to educate Zimbabweans about their cultural identity and foster widespread acceptance of the fabric.

Mazibuko, the founder of the Esteemed Business Women group, boasting nearly 6 000 members, plans to kickstart this initiative in Matabeleland. Her vision is clear: to dispel misconceptions surrounding the National fabric and instil a sense of pride in Zimbabwean heritage among her fellow citizens.

“I want to redefine perceptions regarding the National fabric, particularly in Matabeleland, where it’s often associated solely with political affiliations. Our National fabric is a symbol of our collective identity as Zimbabweans, transcending partisan divides,” Mazibuko said.

Mazibuko draws parallels with neighbouring countries, noting how South Africans and Batswana proudly display their cultural fabrics worldwide, serving as unmistakable markers of national identity.

Through her endeavours, she envisions a Zimbabwe where the National fabric unites rather than divides, embodying the essence of cultural pride and unity.

“Furthermore, as we venture into various districts to inaugurate the Esteemed Business Women Zimbabwe, we will immerse ourselves in the rich tapestry of local cuisine from each region. With countless traditional dishes awaiting discovery, our aim is to amplify the First Lady’s commendable initiatives in promoting indigenous culinary delights.

“Additionally, we are committed to championing environmental consciousness. Through educational programmes, we’ll empower women with the tools to safeguard their surroundings, advocating for practices such as recycling and reusing.

“It’s imperative that we instil these values in our children, ensuring a sustainable legacy for generations to come,” she concluded.
