THE trial of an Inyathi Primary School teacher who sodomised 10 pupils was yesterday deferred to March 7 to allow the state time to verify his claim that he was abducted in 2012.Nkosiyazi Sibanda, 20, who taught at Longwe Primary in Kenilworth, has pleaded guilty to 15 counts of aggravated indecent assault.

On Tuesday Sibanda told the court he was abducted and injected with an unknown substance that made him lose desire for women and instead crave sex with boys.
“We need to confirm with Gweru officials that you were indeed abducted and injected with this so called unknown substance before we continue with the trial,” magistrate Colet Ncube said.

A Grade Seven pupil who sparked the sodomy investigations told investigators that sometime in August last year, Sibanda called him to his bedroom before closing and locking the door.

He then allegedly grabbed the boy and molested him once. On October 1, Sibanda sent the same boy to his house after telling him to go and make a fire, it is alleged.
Sibanda allegedly quickly followed and sodomised the boy again.

The boy later reported the assault to his mother who subsequently reported the case to the police leading to Sibanda’s arrest. Nine other boys later revealed to the police that they had also been sodomised by Sibanda.
