SOLUSI University has intensified mobile student recruitment, targeting national events to boost enrolment.

The Seventh Day Adventist Church-run tertiary institution is keen on mobilising students for all faculties, both at the main campus outside Bulawayo and satellite campuses in Victoria Falls, Harare and Mutare.

A team from the institution led by Mrs Mary Mhlanga the college’s recruitment officer, was in Victoria Falls at the just ended National Association of Secondary School Heads (Nash) national athletics competition doing mobile registration.

The team visited various schools and companies in the resort city meeting teachers and workers who may want to pursue their studies.

Mrs Mhlanga said the tertiary institution was inviting prospective students from various fields of study to take advantage of several courses and scholarships on offer.

She said there are special programmes tailor-made for teachers and being at the Nash event was strategic.

“We attended a big event with more than 10 000 people who were in Victoria Falls for athletics. I managed to meet District Schools Inspectors and various other people talking to them about Solusi.  We were on site to enrol for Solusi as we have opened and our enrolment is still open so were busy enrolling.

“So we got quite a number of students who love to study with Solusi University and we are saying we are still enrolling at all our centres in Victoria Falls, Harare and other places and the main campus at Solusi University,” said Mrs Mhlanga.

She implored those sitting at home who feel defeated because they don’t have 15 points at Advanced Level to consider Solusi University which has some programmes whose entry point is two passes.

“We don’t mind how you enter but we mind how you come out of Solusi University. The college has the esteemed heritage scholarship which has helped lower fees. We need teachers for block release in April and August holidays and our fees includes accommodation on campus while we offer a safe environment with an international flavour,” said Mrs Mhlanga.

Solusi University Victoria Falls campus is housed at the Mkhosana Adventist Secondary School.

The university programmes are competitive and accredited by the Zimbabwe Council of Higher Education (Zimche).
