MAMELODI Sundowns have responded to the alleged death threats that were sent to their midfielder, Teko Modise via social media.

The Siya crew revealed on Soccer Laduma yesterday that Modise has received alleged death threats from what could be a Zamalek fan.

Sundowns defeated the Egyptian giants 3-0 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in the first-leg of the Caf Champions League, where they went one step closer to being crowned champions of the competition.

The Brazilians will now travel to their North African rivals on Sunday where they will face Zamalek at the Borg El Arab Stadium for the second-leg of the Caf Champions League final.

However, it seems that the Zamalek fans are looking to intimidate and frustrate Masandawana by sending what could be seen as a death threat over social media.

“You have two choices, death or lose.. in Cairo you have no other choices,” read part of the message that was sent to the 33-year-old.

The Siya crew contacted Sundowns’ Public Relations Officer Thulani Thuswa to find out how serious the matter is and whether any safety precautions will be taken.

“I saw those things, you know what, we will not be drawn in to supporters who are threatening to kill people.

“But obviously we hope that the law enforcement in Egypt are monitoring this. I mean really, if its mind games we will not work with that. We are stronger than that.

“We have been through tougher situations, playing in Congo. We will also be tightening our own security anyway, but we hope that the Egyptian law enforcement will monitor the situation.

“This will not throw our players off, we don’t want them to think about it. It is very reckless from them. This is the beautiful game,” Thuswa told the Siya crew. — Soccer Laduma
