POULTRY producer, Texas Chickens is set to open more branches across the country as it embarks on an expansion drive.

The chicken supplier is part of the Associated Meat Packers, which also runs Texas Meats. Texas Chickens has eight branches countrywide with its services available in Harare, Gweru, Bulawayo and Kwekwe.

Speaking at the official opening of the Kwekwe branch at the weekend, operations manager, Mr Kuzivakwashe Mudada, said more branches were earmarked in Bulawayo, Masvingo and Kadoma among other places.

“We want to become the best chicken suppliers in the country and we have embarked on an expansion drive that will see us opening more branches across the country to increase visibility,” he said.

The company is targeting to open six more branches before year end.

Kwekwe Mayor Councillor Angeline Kasipo said the expansion was welcome as it creates employment.

“We welcome Texas Meats in Kwekwe as we know that it creates jobs for our youths. We also welcome them knowing that they have good intentions of growing the economy and bringing quality service,” she said.

“As the President (Emmerson Mnangagwa) is always saying, ‘Zimbabwe is open for business’. Kwekwe is also open for business and we call upon all investors to take the opportunity.”

Texas Chicken also made a donation to Rugare Old People’s Home in Amaveni where the Mayor handed food stuffs on behalf of the company.

Mr Mudada pledged to supply chicken to the institution once every month.
