NEWLY promoted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Tsholotsho Football Club will today start their Premiership journey with a pre-season training session at their rural Tsholotsho ground.

The club has kept faith in the boys that helped them win promotion to the elite league.

The team which was playing in the Zifa Southern Region Division One League lost just a single match throughout the season.

Their pre-season camp will be in Tsholotsho although some analysts were of the view that the team needs to use the same venue it will use in their league campaign so that the boys get used to the turf.

Tsholotsho initially said they would use their rural stadium which would be renovated to meet acceptable PSL standards but have since announced that the time frame might not be enough and therefore will now play away from home, either in Hwange at the Colliery Stadium or White City Stadium in Bulawayo.

“Our preparations begin tomorrow in Tsholotsho, we will continue working with the boys that were part of the squad last season but we are not closing the door on anyone interested in trying their luck with us,” said the league debutants chairman Mlamuli Phiri.

The chairman said they received a number of inquiries from interested players but was quick to point out that the club would not incur any expenses for the players coming for trials.

Meanwhile, Tsholotsho FC might bring in a new technical person to their bench in a bid to bring in fresh ideas.

“Our head coach is still Lizwe Sweswe, assisted by Master Ngwenya with Edson Masilela being the manager.

“However we realise that we are now playing in a different and a bit difficult league altogether so we might have to bring in one more person to the bench, we will announce when the right time comes,” said Phiri.

Sweswe hinted in the past that they might need a new technical bench.

Tsholotsho FC was one of the few clubs in Division One that commanded a huge following whenever they played and if their boys keep their cool, they might win a few more hearts when playing in the elite league.
