BULAWAYO Chiefs coach Nilton Terroso admitted his side did not play to the best of their abilities but was happy they managed to get the victory that sent them through to the quarter finals of the Chibuku Super Cup.

Billy Veremu scored the only goal of the game with just seven minutes of play. Veremu shot home after getting to the end of a Felix Moyo cross on the right.

Arnold Munkuli, in goal for the visitors, left his line in an attempt to collect the ball in the air but he missed it completely and it fell on the path of Veremu who made no mistake from close range.

From that moment, the visitors dominated ball possession but could not turn their dominance into goals.

ZPC Kariba coach Rodwell Dhlakama felt they were punished for the mistake that led to the goal.

“Sometimes football is a difficult game. We played well in the first half and second half, but we were punished for the mistake in the first half We failed to defend and got punished.

I am happy with their performance. The league right now is important so we shift focus to the league,” said Dhlakama.
Terroso said: “It was not a good performance compared to last week.

We gave possession away more than we normally do. But we changed a lot of players for this game so the players deserve credit for going out there and winning.”

Chiefs striker Dela Arkoli was red carded after he received his second yellow card in the 61st minute, but fortunately for the hosts he had already been substituted and Arthur Musiyiwa had already made his way into the field of play.

Arkoli received his first yellow after 10 minutes for a rough challenge. His second offence appeared to have been for time wasting as he was being substituted.
