WOMEN in business have been challenged to take advantage of the channels that exist to transform their lives and venture into entrepreneurship.

Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa told participants at the Women Open Market Day event in Bulawayo on Friday that the Government through her ministry is ready to assist all women so they may succeed in their journeys in business

“The ministry has funding for SMEs even though it’s not enough that’s why we are partnering with private sector like Ecobank.

“Now I urge you to produce quality products so as to be competitive,” she said.

She called upon SMEs to register and formalise their business and said ZIMRA should explain new tax initiatives so that SMEs will understand.

The event is being hosted by the Organisation of Women in International Trade (OWIT) in collaboration with Ecobank.

The Women Open Market Day aims to promote and empower women entrepreneurs in Bulawayo and provide them with opportunities to showcase and sell their products.

It serves as a platform for women-owned businesses to network, exchange ideas, and access financial resources for their enterprises.

Minister Mutsvangwa, in her capacity as the Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, will deliver a keynote address highlighting the Government’s commitment to supporting women’s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship. She will emphasise the importance of creating an enabling environment for women to thrive in business and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

The event will feature various activities, including exhibitions, workshops, and panel discussions, focusing on topics such as access to finance, marketing strategies, and business development.

Ecobank, a leading financial institution, has partnered with OWIT to provide financial advisory services and support to women entrepreneurs attending the event.

The Women Open Market Day is expected to attract a large number of women-owned businesses from various sectors, showcasing a diverse range of products and services.

It serves as a platform to celebrate the achievements of women in business and encourage further collaboration and growth opportunities in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
