THERE were wins for Tuskers and Southern Rocks on day two of the domestic Twenty20 cricket competition at Harare Sports Club yesterday.

In the first match of the day, Tuskers edged Eagles by five runs before Rocks saw off Rhinos by four wickets in the day’s second game.

Former Zimbabwe Under-19 star Milton Shumba was brilliant with both bat and ball to inspire Tuskers to a win over Eagles.

Shumba, who walked away with the man of the match, scored 37 not out off 27 deliveries as Tuskers posted 147/5 in 20 overs.

The left-arm spinner then picked up five wickets for 18 runs from four overs, as Eagles were restricted to 142/8 in 20 overs.

Wicketkeeper Regis Chakabva top scored for Eagles with 65 off 36 balls and opening batsman Chamunorwa Chibhabha was second best with 36, but they could not not carry their team over the line.

Ryan Burl top scored for Rhinos in their 158/5 in 20 overs, smashing a 31-ball 53 runs and Tarisai Musakanda weighed in with 38.

Another former Under-19 player Tadiwanashe Marumani struck a 30-ball 60, while Tendai Chisoro hit 35 not out off 19 deliveries to guide Rocks to victory with 14 balls to spare.

Eagles started off the T20 competition on Saturday with a thumping seven-wicket win over Mountaineers in what was the only match of the day.

Tuskers were meant to play Rhinos in their opening fixture on Saturday, but the match will now be played on Thursday.

Zimbabwe Cricket said the start of the T20 tournament was delayed due to logistical challenges which saw only one match taking place on Saturday.

The third-place play-off and final have now been moved to Friday, with the rest of the fixtures remaining as originally scheduled.
