A knife-wielding Kezi woman who stabbed another woman over a broken plastic bucket escaped the agony of jail life when she was sentenced to perform 410 hours of community service.
Sikhululekile Msipha of Malinga Mine compound near Maphisa Growth Point was convicted on her own plea of guilty to   assaulting Miss Sinqobile Ncube (20) of the same area by Gwanda magistrate Mr Arafat Kozanai.

Msipha was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment of which six months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The remaining 12 months were wholly suspended on condition she performs 410 hours of community service at Gohole Primary School in Kezi.

Sometime last year, Miss Ncube lent Msipha a 20 litre plastic bucket and then left for Bulawayo.
When Miss Ncube returned in April this year and asked about her bucket, she was told that it was broken by Msipha’s husband, Mr Farai Muyambo who had promised to replace it.

On several occasions Miss Ncube kept reminding Msipha about the need to replace the bucket but to no avail.
On 21 September at about 7.30am, Miss Ncube and Msipha had a heated argument over the bucket.

Later Miss Ncube left for Maphisa Growth Point to drink beer.
When she returned home, she proceeded to Msipha’s bedroom hut where she started insulting her over the bucket.

Angered by the insults, Msipha came out of her hut armed with a knife and stabbed Miss Ncube twice in the neck and eight times all over the body.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Msipha’s arrest.
