Zimbabwe’s Own Lager, Zambezi Lager, has been unveiled as the platinum sponsor of this year’s Victoria Falls Carnival, taking over from Jameson which held fort for about three years.

Jameson which pulled out last year was replaced by Iflix. And now with Zambezi Lager — a product of Delta Beverages – the event has now been renamed to Zambezi Lager Vic Falls Carnival.

Delta Beverages channel marketing executive, Irimayi Muzorewa said: “Zambezi Lager is proud to be associated with the Vic Falls Carnival as the sponsor of one of the best New Year’s festivals on the continent.”

“The brand fits perfectly with the location of the festival in that not only does it take place by the Zambezi River, but the brand is very close to the heart of the tourist capital of Zimbabwe – Vic Falls. Zambezi Lager seeks to provide mighty refreshment to those adults that yearn for the great outdoors.”

Consumers of the country’s leading premium beer who were already being spoilt by the brand through its various promotions will further be treated as there is a carnival promotion that is already underway.

“The brand will conduct a promotion that will see a number of lucky Zambezi Lager consumers winning experiential prizes that will include tickets to the three-day carnival extravaganza,” Muzorewa said.

Carnival organisers said preparations for the New Year’s Eve party were going on well with early bird tickets already sold out.

Beginning on December 29, the carnival festivities will kick off with an African carnival train party.

The first train is expected to depart the resort town to a bushy site in Jafuta at about 4PM. While on board, carnivalists will jam to the beats of Vic Falls DJ Francis as well as other DJs from the region.

“The African Carnival train and secret bush party sells out every year because it’s a journey unlike any other. Carnivalists will hop onboard for this insanely beautiful trip with exciting DJs both on and off the train,” event organisers said.

On December 30, the party will move to the Vic Falls Primary School, a venue which has become the home of the carnival. Here, people will start their New Year’s celebration early.

They will be treated to performances from different artistes in the region at what has been named the Electric Safari Concert. Freshly Ground will be the headline act on this night.

“There’ll be an electric night of the best in live house, afro, indie and electro-pop including a host of local community parties to keep the celebrations going at our Electric Safari Concert!” they said.

On December 31, a New Year’s Eve unity concert has been organised.

“Those attending will ring in the countdown with thousands of adventure-loving travellers from all over the world, fire breathers, traditional dancers and a host of amazing artistes at the Unity New Year’s Concert.

“Bring along a flag from your country and paint your face as we all come together under the African skies!” suggested the organisers.

Other performances on December 30 and 31 will be from Black Motion, Flying Bantu, Lady Zamar, Prince Kaybee and BCUC.

The excitement will not stop at the festival grounds as the aptly named adventure capital of Africa, Vic Falls is jam packed with fun activities.

During the day, people can participate in mildly adventurous to raging adrenaline activities.

All festival goers are set to receive 10 percent off all adventure packages when booked with their festival ticket!

The first phase of ticket sales which is ongoing has a general three-day pass pegged at $90 (R1 242) per person while a two-day pass costs $65 (R897). A one-day pass for December 31 costs $50 (R690).
