THE country’s leading gospel choral group, ZimPraise has started preparing for a trip to America where they will sing at the annual Mega Fest Conference in August.

Bishop Thomas Dexter “TD” Jakes who invited the group after being wowed by their performance at a conference in the UK last year, will be sponsoring part of their trip.

ZimPraise’s chief executive officer Joseph Madziyire said a 25-member contingent would travel to the bishop’s Potter’s House for the conference which is expected to attract more than 85,000 attendees. It will be held from August 19 to 23 in Dallas, Texas.

The Sungano hit-makers will be in America for three weeks where they will also minister in Boston, Atlanta and Washington.

“The Bishop will sponsor ZimPraise’s accommodation in America and part of our airfare,” Madziyire said.

The group, composed of members from different church denominations across the country has started rehearsing for the conference as they hope to make it a memorable one.

“We’ve started rehearsing for the conference, sorting out the necessary documents. We’ve a couple of meetings lined up with possible sponsors and businesspeople,” he said.

Madziyire said they were excited to be performing in America as it would likely open more doors for them.

“We feel honoured to be representing Zimbabwe at such a world stage. I think this opportunity will help open more doors for us,” he said.

The Potter’s House bishop said he invited ZimPraise to the conference because he wanted to make it exciting, giving his congregation an opportunity to enjoy what he experienced when he first watched the group perform last year.

“I was praying for something exciting and a little crazy to do for the Mega Fest and I decided to invite them over.

“I think multiculturalism is incredible because you get to see all of these different expressions of praise,” Bishop TD Jakes said, commending the group for its music.
