ZimTrade, CZI to coordinate Zim’s participation at ZACS 2015

ZIMTRADE, in collaboration with the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), is coordinating the participation of local companies at the Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show (ZACS) to be held in Lusaka from July 29 to August 3, 2015.

The show will be held under the theme, “Innovation beyond the Golden Jubilee”, in recognition of the fact that Zambia celebrated 50 years of independence in 2014.

During the second quarter of 2015, ZimTrade will undertake a market research in Zambia to establish the export potential of Zimbabwean products and services.

The research will also gather market intelligence covering transport logistics, regulatory requirements, among others.

ZACS is a multi-sectoral event, which showcases agricultural machinery and implements, industrial equipment, plastic products, forestry products, livestock, poultry products, horticulture, motor vehicles, trading, financial services as well as fishing products, among others. In 2014, the event attracted more than 1,000 Zambian and foreign exhibitors who showcased their products and services while more than 200,000 visitors, including foreigners, attended the show.

Trade between Zimbabwe and Zambia is governed by the Comesa and Sadc Trade Agreements, which offer preferential treatment of qualifying products into each other’s market. Zambia is the fourth largest export destination for Zimbabwean products accounting for 3.3 percent and 3.4 percent of total exports in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

Zimbabwe’s major exports to Zambia include plastic products, iron and steel products, agricultural equipment and implements, cement, paper and wood products, medicaments, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, sugar confectionery, food preparations, edible oils, chemicals and fertilisers, among others.

Companies are invited to participate in this Trade Fair.
