Bulawayo Athletic Club (BAC), the once popular nightspot in the city, reopened on Thursday night under new management after having closed shop about two years ago.

Former Club Eden manager Manu Mahaso, who is not new to the local entertainment scene, has taken over the bar which is now called BAC Leisure. Before it closed, patronage had waned at the spot as Club Eden, which is a few miles away was attracting more revellers, something Mahaso hopes to improve.

The leisure centre located at corner 12th Avenue and Park Road in Bulawayo attracted the city’s who’s who, who were spoilt to an array of food and beverages when it opened on Thursday.

Mahaso, who was instrumental in bringing patronage to Club Eden, has roped in another former Club Eden employee, DJ Slamma.

Like any other bar in the city, BAC’s target is to be the best bar in the city.

The joint’s advantage is that it is very spacious and has a big space where patrons can braai.

The place is conducive for family outings with a jumping castle for children on  Sundays.

Inside the joint, there are two bars and a spacious dance floor where DJs Tick Tock, Mellow T and Slamma will be churning out the beats.

For those who like the VIP life, there are comfortable sofas where they can relax and unwind with bar stool lined around the bar for those who want to be close to the action.

Mahaso said he was confident people would support the new look bar which was renovated with them in mind.

“I decided to be my own man and team up with some of my friends to venture into this business.

“Judging by the patronage on Thursday, I’m confident that it’s going to be a good summer,” said Mahaso.

He said the spot caters for upmarket clientele and is therefore a place to be for the business executives after a hard day’s work.
