BAKER’S Inn says it is targeting 50 percent market share in the next 12 months on the back of sales promotions and continued investment in plant upgrade and maintenance.

In an interview after the launch of the second Buy and Win Promotion at the firm’s factory in Belmont Industrial Site, Bulawayo on Friday, the chief executive officer Mr Ngoni Mazango said:

“As a group, where we feel our equipment is ageing up, we keep on investing in new plants and this has seen us of late producing 400 000 quality loaves a day from both Bulawayo and Harare factories consolidating our command on domestic market share.

“We want to consolidate the Zimbabwe market and command at least 50 percent of the domestic market share in the next 12 months,” he said.

Presently, Baker’s Inn commands about 45 percent of the domestic market share.

“We’ve also adopted a number of strategies to help us achieve this and the Buy and Win Promotion is one such way to achieve the set target. Through such a promotion we’re ploughing back to the community,” he said.

Mr Mazango said as they consolidate their domestic market share they were also promoting the Buy Zimbabwe campaign by procuring locally quality flour products.

Last month, Bakers Inn commissioned a pie manufacturing plant after having invested $8 million on the factory that is producing 200 000 pies a day.

“We also spent $7 million upgrading our fleet of delivery trucks so that we’ve a sound distribution network,” he said.

In his speech guest of honour, Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries president Mr Busisa Moyo who is also United Refineries Limited chief executive officer said as a result of the previous edition of the Buy and Win Promotion, Baker’s Inn sales had increased by an average of 45 000 loaves a day.

He said the promotion had grown bigger and better.

“The second Buy and Win Promotion has grown bigger and better from nine Honda Fit vehicles to 11 VW Polo vehicles, solar geysers, and a lot more consolation prizes worth $50 000 to be won.

“The promo runs from 23 September to 26 November,” he said.
