A seventeen-year-old teenager from Mayobodo area in Matabeleland South allegedly raped his 15-year-old cousin claiming that he owned her sexual organ.
This was heard when the teenager appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa facing rape charges.
He was not asked to plead as his lawyer was not in attendance and was remanded in custody to today.

Prosecuting, Caroline Matanga alleged that  during the period extending from September 2013 to January this year, the teenage boy unlawfully had sex after sneaking into his cousin’s hut at night and forcing himself on her.

“The male juvenile used to proceed to his female cousin’s bedroom, on arrival, he would strip off his trousers and order her to strip as well. He would then rape her before threatening her not to tell anyone,” said Matanga.

The prosecutor told the court that victim would try to fight him off but he would always overpower her.
“At one time, she tried to push him off but he beat her with open fists (sic) telling her that he was the sole owner of her sexual organ.”

The offence came to light after the girl’s teacher suspected that the complainant was pregnant and informed her aunt who took her to clinic where she was confirmed to be pregnant.

The aunt reported the matter to the police and the girl was referred to Brunapeg Hospital for medical examination.
