A couple of years ago, the thought of a Zimbabwean winning a Grammy award, or even being nominated, seemed like a far-fetched dream, but ever since producer, Brian Soko, won the accolade last year, it has become a reality that many are striving to attain.

Well for Soko who is based in the United States of America, it is now becoming more of a lifestyle as he has been nominated for yet another Grammy award alongside his production partners Rasool Diaz & Andre Proctor of ‘The Order’.

This year they are nominated for ‘Best Rap Album’ for their work, where they produced three songs on Nicki Minaj’s “PinkPrint” album.

The awards ceremony is set to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Monday.

“I’m humbled and excited to be nominated again,” said Soko.

“Our team works extremely hard and we know there’re no guarantees in this industry. It’s always amazing for a project you contributed on to be recognised at this level.”

Soko was nominated in six categories at the 2015 edition for his work on Beyoncé’s multi-platinum record “Drunk In Love”, managing to win three Grammy Awards to make him the first Zimbabwean to win a Grammy and youngest African to do so.

In his acceptance speech last year Soko dedicated his Grammy awards to fellow Zimbabweans, saying he hoped he was an inspiration. The producer has been working to expand his production portfolio internationally, working with artists and producers from South Africa, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

Last year again, he produced and featured on a record for South African rapper Chad titled “EFT” as well as Uhuru’s DJ Maphorisa on a record titled “Menina Bonita” with Nigeria’s Runtown which was produced by fellow Zimbabwean Tatenda Kamera. – Zimbojam.
