Bud Spencer

Veteran Italian actor Bud Spencer, famous for his role in several spaghetti westerns, passed away at his home in Rome on Monday morning.

The star’s son Giuseppe Pedersoli confirmed the news in a short statement to Italian media on Monday.

“My father died peacefully at 18:15PM and did not suffer from pain, he had all of us next to him and his last words were ‘Thank you.’’’

Tributes have continued to pour in for the actor, most famous for his roles in 70s and 80s westerns, such as They Call Me Trinity, alongside his long-time film partner Terence Hill.

Actor Russell Crowe paid his condolences to the star, tweeting: “RIP Bud Spencer. My heart goes out to your family.”

Local fans have also flooded social media with messages of condolences, among them was a touching tribute from radio personality Aki Anastasiou – TimesLive.
