POPULAR animated comedy series the Bulawayo Show is back on the silver screen after a sold out premiere in the city last month. The second movie of the Bulawayo Show will be screened at the Rainbow Cinema’s City One on October 3 before being taken to South Africa in November for a premiere there. “There has been a lot of interest for the show in South Africa, so at the beginning of November we’ll go there to screen it.

“We’re still consulting on the venues but most probably it will be in Johannesburg,” said the executive producer of the show, Zenzele Ndebele.
He said the movie was in the form of animated comedy with comic video clips. The clips which first went viral on social media networks forced producers to package them into movies which tackle various life issues including drug abuse, peer pressure, youths and dating.

As a result of the success of the animated comedy clips, Ndebele said they decided to delay the screening of the second movie to give audiences time to enjoy the first movie.

“We needed to create demand for the first movie so that people buy the DVDs. That is why we moved the date for the release of the second movie by a month.
“People have been buying the DVDs in numbers and we’re happy with sales of the DVDs and memorabilia,” said Ndebele.

He said tickets to the second show would go on sale today.
“Those who want to attend the movie can follow us on our Facebook page for details of where to buy tickets,” he said.

Ndebele said they heeded calls by fans to shorten the second movie as it will be one-hour-thirty minutes long compared to the first one which was three hours long.
“Last time people were complaining that the show was hilarious but too long, so we have cut it to an hour 30 minutes. The format is the same as the last one with the same characters but in different situations,” said Ndebele.

Popular characters on the clips are Sox and Ratu who are always on various missions.
