A local bus firm, City Link Coaches, has scored a first by introducing electronic tickets which can be purchased via Internet, to add convenience to the travelling public. The move by the bus company is part of its ambitions to modernise travelling and move along with new technologies.

City Link marketing manager Nobuhle Gwemende said the facility would be available for all their bus services and would go a long way in saving time for travellers who would not have to travel to the bus company’s offices to purchase tickets.

“Passengers can now book Online from our website using EcoCash, Telecash, Visa, MasterCard and Zimswitch.  This is a first in the country and we will keep on striving to offer such top notch services to our passengers so that they travel comfortably knowing that we’re taking care of all their needs. We urge our passengers to utilise this e-ticketing. It’s to their advantage.”

Gwemende said the introduction of the e-ticketing system was a response to passengers who longed for a convenient way to purchase their tickets.

City Link Coaches usually deals with busy people who might not find time to visit their offices to purchase tickets.

The online tickets are bought on the City Link website — www.citylinkcoaches.co.zw.

Through the online booking, one is able to choose their seat number; travelling time and type of ticket and when the payment is done, the e-tickets would be instantly sent through the passengers’ e-mail addresses.

City Link Coaches recently introduced 10AM and 4PM buses which depart Harare. The luxury coaches, with a carrying capacity of 50 passengers, are equipped with reclining leather seats, foot rests, entertainment, curtains, individual reading lights and individual air-conditioning.
