IT has never happened before but this Sunday Dynamos supporters are likely to rally behind their biggest rivals on the domestic scene, Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium. Bosso take on high-flying log leaders Chicken Inn in a crunch Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match and DeMbare fans know that a victory for Bosso will give them a chance to cut the Gamecocks’ lead to one point and set the Harare giants on course for a fifth league title on the trot.

Dynamos themselves have a tricky tie against unpredictable gold miners, How Mine at Rufaro Stadium on the same day. Staunch DeMbare fan John Shoko said they were likely to rally behind Bosso this Sunday because their win will benefit their team. “We hate Caps United, but we cheered them on last year for our benefit and so why not cheer Bosso if it’s to our advantage. We will just swallow our pride,” said Shoko. Dynamos fans rallied behind Caps United when they took on ZPC Kariba last year on the same day that Dynamos were ironically playing How Mine at Rufaro.

Makepekepe went on to win 3-2 and Dynamos won 2-0 to claim their fourth straight title. Had ZPC Kariba beaten Caps United, they would have won the league in their debut season as they went on to finish a point behind champions, Dynamos. A win for Dynamos on Sunday and a loss for Chicken Inn will see the four point gap reduced to just a single point, setting the stage for a blood and thunder encounter when Dynamos face Chicken Inn in Bulawayo.

Both Highlanders and Chicken Inn go into Sunday’s match on the backdrop of 0-1 losses to little Whawha and Hwange respectively.

Joe Antipas’ boys will carry a slight edge over their stuttering opponents, who have won just six games compared to Chicken Inn’s 12. Chicken Inn won the first match 2-1 and Antipas would be relishing a double over Bosso. In fact, he would not want to be the first Chicken Inn coach to lose to Highlanders in a league match since the Gamecocks stormed into the Premier League in 2012.Chicken Inn have three wins and four draws in seven league matches against Bosso.

Another crack match would be at Gibbo Stadium between home side Triangle and on-fire FC Platinum, who have not lost in their last 11 games.Triangle would want to get back to winning ways after going for 180 minutes without scoring. They lost 0-2 to DeMbare before playing to a goalless draw against How Mine at Barbourfields Stadium last Sunday.
