SUNGURA musician Tongai Moyo is on a roll!
Despite reports of his poor health, the Kwekwe-based musician seems to have recharged his batteries, if the latest family shows that he has been staging recently are anything to go by.
First it was the Harare Gardens affair where he put up a sterling and memorable performance which left many doubting Thomases with “egg on their faces”.
This was after rumours that Dhewa – as he is fondly called in music circles – was not in a better condition to last the show.
He shared the stage with First Farai, Winky D, the now-defunct R&K African Sounds and Maskiri.
Now, the stage is set for another return gig by the sungura musician at the Megga 1 Bar – “Pamahuswa” – in Graniteside tomorrow.
The show marks the reunion of Dhewa and his long-time friend and fellow musician Somandla “Mafia” Ndebele who has been inactive from live performances for a long time now.
Speaking on behalf of the artiste, Joseph Munyebvu of Joe Promotions, who are organising the show in conjunction with the owners of Megga 1 Bar, said the musicians were promising the best act, especially what with rekindling old memories of their days when they collaborated on the song “Moyo Wekurera”.
“We are promising nothing but the best, especially when Dhewa combines with his long-time buddy Soma.
“Many people who like the song Moyo Wekurera should look forward to the joint act by the guys,” he said.
Munyebvu added: “This is also a chance for Soma to make a comeback to mainstream shows since he has not been active for a long time.
“On the other hand, Dhewa is fit and ready for the show and people should expect more from him,” he said.
From the Megga 1 affair, Dhewa is expected to perform at Sports Diner on March 4 before taking his act to Vhengere in Rusape.
