DreamStar Zimbabwe, a talent show that seeks to empower local talented youths aged between 12 and 40 to help them rise from the backstage to the main stage will be scouting for talent in Bulawayo and Harare today as the race heats up for the $3 000 prize.

The Bulawayo regional finals will be held at Rainbow Hotel while in Harare they will be at Long Chen Plaza starting at 2PM. Entrance is free.
Tinashe Kitchen, DreamStar marketing executive, said 20 groups were expected to compete today with 10 being selected to compete at the national finals slated for Harare next month.

With the motto: “DreamStar, Dream higher and Fight harder”, the competition — a partnership of the Chinese Federation of Zimbabwe and Jacaranda Culture & Media Corporations is now in its second edition.

Kitchen said the overall winner would walk away with $3 000 while the first runner up will get $1 500. The second runner up will get $500.

“The top 10 finalists will be given an opportunity to travel to China for two to three weeks, giving them the much needed exposure.

“They’ll perform there with academic scholarship and employment opportunities being provided for outstanding individuals and groups,” said Kitchen.
