‘Industrial park for Jotsholo’

JOTSHOLO Business Centre in Lupane district could be turned into a modern industrial park if efforts by Amakhosi Cultural Centre director Cont Mhlanga and his partners work according to plan.

Mhlanga launched the concept for the project at Amakhosi in Bulawayo last week at an event that was attended by Industry and Commerce Minister Mike Bimha.

He said their vision of an industrial park in Jotsholo was in line with the government’s Zim-Asset thrust of establishing Special Economic Zones across the country.

An industrial park is an area zoned and planned for the purpose of industrial development.

“When it comes to animals and animal hides and other products, let’s bring them all into a park and then start processing them with a view of creating a manufacturing product for industrialists to produce consumer goods,” said Mhlanga.

“This is why we’ve come up with this concept for the development of an industrial park in Jotsholo.”

Mhlanga said since the attainment of independence in 1980, industrial growth and development has been skewed in favour of urban areas despite the potential in rural areas.
