A TRADITIONAL healer from Emakhandeni suburb in Bulawayo yesterday threatened to cast a bad spell on his ex-wife as punishment for taking him to the Maintenance Court.

Alberno Uketi was ordered to pay $25 maintenance per month for his two-year-old child by Mr Manasa Musiiwa.

Uketi’s ex-wife Ms Liznet Muvhumi was demanding $150 a month.

Ms Muvhimi told the court that her ex-husband had never contributed towards the upkeep of their child.

Uketi said a spirit showed him while he was asleep that the man responsible for Ms Muvhumi’s child was at How mine.

“Your worship l am a traditional healer and my spirit informed me that this child doesn’t belong to me.

‘‘I informed the applicant about my dream and told her to come and report the pregnancy to my parents so that we could consult ancestors for the second time but she didn’t come,” said Uketi.

He said he could therefore not maintain another man`s child as he had his own five children he was   taking care of.

In response, Ms Muvhumi said Uketi was a liar who was using his “spirits” to avoid maintaining his child.

”He is lying because he is the father of my son hence I want him to contribute to his upkeep,” she said.

Mr Musiiwa ordered Uketi to pay $25 monthly for the upkeep of the child from October 30, pending results of a paternity test.

Uketi  soon after the court ruling, threatened to cast a bad spell on Ms Muvhumi. — @cynthiamthembo1
