THE suspected rapist and killer who allegedly axed his lover to death before committing suicide in Mangwe last week, has not been buried following a misunderstanding between families.

After axing his lover, Loveness Moyo, to death, the late Dereck Ncube also allegedly axed Moyo’s 12-year old niece leaving her for dead.

His body is still at Plumtree District Hospital mortuary after Moyo’s relatives refused to release his national identity card.

Velaphi Ncube, Moyo’s brother, yesterday told Chronicle that Dereck’s father disrespected his family by sending a young boy to collect his identity card.

“Dereck’s father sent a young boy to collect the killer’s ID. We did not give him because they disrespected us. They never paid their condolences and again did not apologise after their son killed our sister.

“He is still in the mortuary because we are still holding on to his ID. We will not give it to them until they apologise,” he said.

Ncube said the 12-year-old girl who was axed and left for dead is recovering at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH).

“She can’t talk but she has opened her eyes. She is the one who has the full story about what really transpired. We are appealing for help to raise funds for her medication,” he said.

Moyo was laid to rest at her rural home in Mangwe on Monday.
