SOUTH African comedian, singer and actor, Oscar Vuyo Mgudlwa, popularly known as Madluphuthu will be featuring in comedy movie, “Sangoma in New York” which will be premiered in December.

Speaking during his visit in Plumtree last weekend, Madluphuthu said the movie which was shot in New York featured actors from the animated film Lion King.

He said it was about a sangoma named Madluphuthu who visited New York to perform his traditional practices.

“In the movie, I visit New York where I start offering sangoma services to white people. My intervention becomes helpful to them and I gain a lot of popularity.

“Eventually, a number of people turn to me as a traditional healer to help solve their problems. The movie seeks to prove that traditional medicine is equally important as western medicine,” Madluphuthu said.

“The comedian who other than mentoring upcoming actors is working on releasing a kwaito album soon, revealed plans to work with more international artists.

“I’m working on a documentary of my life. It’s an inspirational piece meant to motivate people to pursue their dreams despite their geographic location or background,” he said.

During his stay in Plumtree, Madluphuthu visited schools in the border town before gracing a family fun day that was held at Allan Redfern.

He also attended an after-party that was held at 4Js Sports Bar.

“The reason why I came to Plumtree was to interact with fans from the town. I also used the opportunity to educate pupils on the importance of learning.”
