A FORT Rixon man allegedly teamed up with his granddaughter and axed his wife to death in a bushy area over a yet to be disclosed issue. The chilling incident happened last Friday.

Moses Mhlanga, 56, and his granddaughter, Musa Moyo, 24, of Hamilton Farm, allegedly connived in killing Lucy Ndlovu (age not given) who was Mhlanga’s wife.

Although it could not be immediately ascertained why Ndlovu was killed, it is said that she was last seen with her granddaughter, Moyo, in a bushy area.

The two were said to have been arguing and Moyo was overheard by villagers threatening to deal with Ndlovu.

During that night, Ndlovu never returned home and the following morning Mhlanga made a report that his wife was missing.

A search was made leading to the discovery of Ndlovu’s body in the bush and indications were that she was killed using an axe.

After the body was discovered, some villagers revealed to the police that they had last been seen Ndlovu and Moyo walking together engaged in a heated argument.

Moyo, who has a six-month-old baby, was then questioned about the issue and in the process implicated her grandfather, Mhlanga, as the one who axed Ndlovu to death in her presence and both were arrested.

The duo appeared before Gwanda magistrate Sheila Nazombe jointly charged with Ndlovu’s murder.

They were not asked to plead and were advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

Nazombe remanded them in custody to November 13.

The state case as presented by Edward Ndlovu is that Moyo and Mhlanga connived to kill Ndlovu on October 24 this year.

“On October 24, 2014 at Plot number 19 Mayfair in Fort Rixon, the accused persons, acting in consent and with a common purpose, assaulted the deceased several times with an axe on both hands and forehead causing her multiple injuries and left her dead in the bush,” said the prosecutor.
