MEIKLES Limited has announced plans to open three more branches in the next three months under the Meikles Mega Market brand as part of its expansion drive.

Meikles Mega Market will open its doors for the first time in Kwekwe and Kadoma while another branch will open in Harare bringing the total number of shops under its banner to 11.

The new Harare shop will bring the number of Meikles Mega Market in the capital to four.

Panganai Ngorima, the Meikles Mega Market general manager, said the low cost business model they have adopted has resulted in an overwhelming response especially with those in the low end income bracket, hence the continued expansion exercise.

“The hybrid model where we are offering retail and wholesale services has endeared us to the low income bracket income earners as well as small-scale retailers, hence there has been an overwhelming response from customers. Due to the response, we are opening three more branches in Kwekwe, Kadoma and Harare in the next three or so months. I am confident that the new shops will be popular just like the other shops that we opened,” he said.

Ngorima could not quantify the cost of the three new branches. He, however, said they are adopting low cost business models on refurbishing structures where they want to set up shop.

The retail chain shop deals in foodstuffs, basic household goods, personal care and beverages, among others.

In the past eight months, branches have been opened in Gweru, Bulawayo, and Mutare as the retail chain seeks to assert itself as a force to reckon with.

Meikles Africa has also been on a rebranding exercise of its TM retail stores to Pick n’ Pay following a partnership with South Africa’s retail giant.
