A woman from Gokwe South recently shocked the local community when she allegedly snatched her daughter’s estranged husband as a way of ending the couple’s domestic fights.

The incident occurred about two weeks ago when Emily Kasirori, 49, of Kautsiga Village under Chief Nemangwe allegedly seduced George Gamanya, 30, who was married to her daughter, Sarah Janhi, 25.

The couple, which has three children together, had been married for six years when Kasirori decided to move in as wife to her son-in-law.

A family member who refused to be named said Gamanya divorced his wife before paying bride price for his mother-in-law to become his wife.

“Kasirori has always been a person of questionable etiquette. Her daughter has always been fighting with her husband and she would chip in to restore sanity, here and there.

This continued for some time until she started seeing her son-in-law behind her daughter’s back. The two later moved in together last week,” said the relative.

Janhi, the source revealed, failed to stomach this development and dragged the two to a traditional court.

Chief Nemangwe confirmed the incident saying he received a report of the matter at his traditional court. He said he presided over the case.

Chief Nemangwe said people in his area are still to come to terms with what transpired.

“I can confirm that the matter was before my court and it happened about two weeks ago. What happened is uncalled for. It goes against our norms and beliefs and I’ve since ordered Gamanya to pay one beast and six goats for undermining tradition and his wife. I’ve also ordered Kasirori and her family to pay four beasts for taking her son-in-law as husband,” said Chief Nemangwe.

He said they have also ordered Gamanya to leave his matrimonial home and six of their eight beasts to his wife and three children.
