ONE Stand Band is an all female band from Bulawayo which was formed with the ambition to make a mark, locally, regionally and internationally.

The vibrant group full of energy was formed earlier this year. The band consists of Nama award winner 22-year-old Qeqeshiwe Mntambo, Novuyo and Ntombiyolwandle Dube the talented 23-year-old twins who have worked with Intombi Zomqangala, Umoja CFC, Bashupi, Edith WeUtonga, Sunshine music studios as well as Bambatha Actor’s Centre.

The young ladies formed the group after approaching their manager Michelle Madau, a phenomenal young woman who runs The DIVAs Inc, an events and artiste management company.

“It was easy for me to work with them as we already have a good working relationship and they’re a great trio that’s determined and hard working,” said Madau.

The trio plays old school classics from South Africa’s Miriam Makheba, Thandiswa Mazwai, Siphokazi, Lira, and Judith Sephuma fusing it with their own afro pop and jazz.

They also work with Hudson Simbarashe on the acoustic guitar.

Hudson has played for a lot of successful artistes such as the late Leonard Dembo, Thomas Mapfumo, and Edith WeUtonga. Matthew Chirisa plays the band’s keyboard.

Madau said the girls have a strong bond hence it was easy to form a band together.

“The trio who met in junior school have been inseparable since then. This made it even easier for them to come up with the name ‘One Stand Band’ which simply means firm ground and unshakable” Madau said.

One Stand Band performs at corporate events, local functions and weddings. For weddings they add a personal touch singing love songs compiled by the couples.

The combination of the old and new generation songs and their interestingly well choreographed dance moves makes One Stand Band different from any other band.

They recently performed at Cape to Cairo for the first time where they gave a splendid performance.
