POLICE in Bulawayo are looking for a man who allegedly broke into 34 premises and stole property worth thousands of dollars in one night . Dominic Tichavagana, 35, of Old Magwegwe suburb, allegedly committed the crime when he was already a fugitive from justice after skipping bail in a $10,000 fraud case.

Tichavagana allegedly broke into 34 flea market stands at Nkulumane Complex at night on 22 May this year. Bulawayo Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango said Tichavagana attacked and robbed a security guard who was guarding the flea market stands.

“Before breaking into the flea market shops, he attacked the security guard on duty robbing him of $13.

“He is facing 34 counts of unlawful entry and theft. Although he allegedly committed the crime in the same building, we’re treating the cases separately,” she said.

Insp Simango said Tichavagana took away flea market wares that included clothes.

She said he was earlier arrested but failed to appear in court after defrauding a group of illegal money changers popularly known as osiphatheleni of $10,000.

“He was supposed to be arraigned in July but he didn’t attend the session,” Insp Simango said.

Tichavagana was last seen at house number 243/2 Old Magwegwe.

“The wanted person is of medium build, dark in complexion and about 1,75M tall,” said Insp Simango.

She appealed to members of the public with information that may lead to Tichavagana’s arrest to come forward.

“He was once arrested following a tip off from members of the public and appeared before the courts where he was granted bail. He, however, defaulted.

“Anyone with information that may lead to his arrest should contact the Criminal Investigations Department Nkulumane on 09-484977, or Bulawayo provincial police on WhatsApp number 0776097122,” Insp Simango said.

Members of the public can also relay the information that may lead to his arrest to the nearest police station.
