A PUSHCART operator from Bulawayo has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his two colleagues following a fight over a customer at Renkini Bus terminus.

Onias Dube (36) from Cowdray Park suburb allegedly had a misunderstanding with Mr Thompson Ndiweni at the terminus where they operate from on Christmas Day.

Dube allegedly went away and returned with an okapi knife which he used to stab Mr Ndiweni and Mr Mthandazo Thulani Dube, who had tried to restrain them.

Dube appeared before Bulawayo provincial magistrate Mr Franklin Mkhwananzi facing attempted murder charges.

He was not asked to plead and Mr Mkhwananzi remanded him in custody to January 8. The magistrate advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.

“This court has no jurisdiction to grant you bail. Apply for bail at the High court or seek consent from the National Prosecuting Authority,” said the magistrate.

Prosecuting, Mr Mclean Ndlovu said on Monday morning, Dube and Mr Ndiweni fought and the accused person went away and returned a few minutes later with a knife.

He allegedly stabbed Mr Ndiweni and Mr Dube.

“On December 25 at around 9 AM, Onias Dube had a misunderstanding with Mr Ndiweni. He went away and came back with an okapi knife,” Mr Ndlovu said.

“The accused stabbed Mr Ndiweni on the abdomen and Mr Dube tried to intervene. The accused stabbed him once in the chest and he sustained a deep cut.”

Mr Ndlovu said Dube’s victims were still admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital. — @NyarieBakie
