The sand poacher, Thabani Moyo (29), of House Number 14871 Nkulumane 12, was again not formally charged with murder when he briefly appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Richard Ramaboea sitting at the Western Commonage magistrates’ courts on Monday.
He was remanded to 10 May and the bail conditions set by the High Court are that he should reside at his given address until the finalisation of his case.

He should not interfere with State witnesses and should surrender his travel documents if he has any.

The State case, as presented by the prosecutor, Ms Fiona Ncube, is that on 10 March, council rangers found Moyo allegedly illegally abstracting sand in Methodist Village just outside Pumula suburb.

Moyo was involved in a high-speed chase which lasted nearly an hour and spanned five suburbs ending in Nkulumane 12.
During the chase, the State will seek to prove that he knocked down Siphambaniso Ncube (50) of Emganwini before running over his body with a seven tonne truck killing him instantly.

Moyo, who abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot in Nkulumane, was finally arrested after he had gathered a pile of stones that he used to pelt people, who were pursuing him.
