PROPHETIC Healing Deliverance (PHD) Ministries Prophet Walter Magaya came to Bulawayo for a whirlwind crusade at Amazulu Sports Club over past the two days.Thousands upon thousands of prayerful Bulawayo residents thronged the venue to catch a glimpse of the popular Prophet and receive healing and deliverance. What was interesting was that women were the centre of attention as they thronged the venue in masses. Most of them had demonic manifestations when prophet Magaya was casting out demons on stage.

Others thronged the venue to find solutions to problems of not finding the right suitor to marry, barrenness and marital problems.

When one watches popular preachers such as pastor Chris, TB Joshua and Ubert Angel, it is a norm to see women giving out testimonies about being ravished by demons, goblins and some confessing that they are witches and mermaids who are determined to destroy men in the church. However, it seems women are the ones who have problems with the spirit world — if those who attended the crusade are anything to go by.

Explanations have been thrown around in clarifying why women seem like the ones who suffer more from demon possession, with some saying it is because of their highly emotional nature. According to the Spiritual Science Research foundation, in 2012, 70 percent more women were affected by demonic entities while only 30 percent of men were affected.

In the Bible, some argue, Satan approached Eve, a woman, first leading to the fall of mankind, making women the most affected by demonic possessions than men. This seems to have been confirmed locally when Magaya took to the stage. His effect on women can only be understood when one witnesses what happens at his crusades.

As one entered the Amazulu Sports Club, they were greeted by a sea of people that had gathered at the venue, with some wearing PHD t-shirts and carrying flags representing different countries. An air of anticipation was around the stadium with people from all walks of life awaiting the arrival and grand entrance of the Prophet.

The Yadah Voices Choir had people on their feet as they were singing and dancing to praise songs. Soon after the last song, prophet Magaya made his grand entrance onto the stage flanked by an army of bodyguards. People, mostly women, surged forward and knelt to have a closer look at the man of God.

When the Prophet greeted the crowd, women suddenly wailed, crying and screaming as demons started manifesting during his service. It was as if all the demons were eagerly waiting for Prophet Magaya to come on stage so that they could be seen. Or was it that Magaya was so powerful that he was the only one who the demons feared?

The women were of different ages and it was a quite a sight to see them live, bellowing, screaming and rolling on the ground, yelling and cursing prophet Magaya for bringing them into the open. Some of the women were uncontrollable and security had a torrid time trying to subdue them. In some cases, it would take two or three security guards to hold them down.

Obviously when women rolled on the ground uncontrollably, their dresses revealed their undergarments and the women from PHD had to quickly cover them with wrappers.

One disgusting sight was watching some women line up on fours and start to spitting out huge volumes of saliva. What they would be spitting out is believed to be potions of bad luck that other people would have put in their food. This saliva is then cleaned by the PHD ushers who are armed with wads and wads of tissue paper.

Other women were crawling like little babies at the front of the stage with Magaya’s media team frequently giving the women a mic so that those on the peripheries could hear what was going on at the front. As all this was happening, Magaya with his loud booming voice from the public address system, was repeatedly shouting “Get Out!!!!”

In most churches, women attend services and are the prayerful ones in most households. They seem to be in tune with their spiritual being more than men.
