THE Matopo family which was blessed with triplets last month, received donations from Zimpapers Bulawayo Branch on Wednesday. Simphiwe Bhebhe, now a mother of seven, received clothes, groceries and cash meant to assist her in raising her triplets.

The donation comes a week after the company also donated to a Bulawayo family that had been blessed with triplets.

Chronicle Managing and Production Editor Isaac Waniwa handed over the goods at the family’s homestead at Matopo’s Inqama Village in ward 10 under headman Khemesi Ncube.

Waniwa told the family that Zimpapers was aware of the challenges they were facing and thus saw the need to assist.

“Taking care of a new born baby is a challenge to many parents and the challenge is even greater when a couple is blessed with triplets like what has happened to you,” said Waniwa.

“It is because of this realisation that Chronicle decided to go further than just highlighting your plight and that of your babies by donating this assortment of goods.”

He said the group had set an example for many and hopes they will emulate the company in giving help where it is needed.

Waniwa regretted the long distance, a two-hour walk up and down the Matopos mountains that Bhebhe walks when taking the triplets to the nearest clinic.

“I am informed that the clinic where these babies were born which happens to be the nearest health centre, Silobini clinic, is a two-hour walk away. What this means is that each time you need to take these babies to the clinic, they endure a two-hour walk through this rugged terrain,” he said.

The Chronicle Managing editor appealed to well-wishers to assist in providing supplementary milk for the triplets.

“It is a fact that these babies cannot be adequately fed through breast-feeding and as such they urgently need supplementary feeding. I want to therefore appeal to donors to assist in this regard”.

On behalf of Zimpapers, Waniwa pledged to deliver any donation which comes to the media company to the family.

“I want, on behalf of Zimpapers Bulawayo branch, to pledge our commitment to ensure that any donation which comes through our offices is forwarded to you at the earliest possible time,” he added.

The triplets’ mother, Bhebhe, expressed her appreciation to Zimpapers for extending a helping hand. “I am speechless; Chronicle people are so caring and now all my fears on how I was to raise my children without anything have been erased, thank you Jesus,” she said.

Those who wish to assist the family can hand their donations to Chronicle.
