THE Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Company says it is ready to host the 55th edition of the exhibition which begins in Bulawayo next week.
The annual trade showcase opens on Tuesday and runs until Saturday under the theme, “New Ideas to New Heights”. “We are ready for the trade fair which begins next week and our expectations are that our exhibitors and visitors will find it fruitful and relevant to their businesses,” ZITF marketing and public relations manager, Stella Nkomo, said.

A snap survey by Business Chronicle yesterday showed that most exhibitors such as the Zimbabwe Investment Authority (ZIA), the Department of Trade and Industry of South Africa, Potraz and MBCA Bank had finished setting up their stands.

An official with the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) who was on site preparing the parastatal’s stand said they were looking forward to this year’s edition and hoped it would avail more opportunities for them.

“We are looking forward to next week and we are almost done with the preparations. We are expecting a lot this year and we hope that we will be able to iron out where we failed during the previous fair,” he said.

A fortnight ago, officials from ZITF said 44,000 square metres out of the available 51,000 had been booked. Congo Brazzaville president Denis Sassou Nguesso is expected to open the trade fair on April 25.

Nkomo said this year’s Scholastica expo, which runs concurrently with the exhibition, will be big and different from the previous ones.

“This year’s expo will be different as we have invited all universities around the country and other international universities to share ideas on how to develop students into professionals and provide career guidance knowledge,” she said.

Nkomo said that this year ZITF collaborated with Stop to Start International Private Limited which specialises in providing personal and corporate transformation knowledge at the same time providing career guidance for students and young graduates.

“Stop to Start International will provide one on one consultation on personal development, career guidance and these programmes will run concurrently with other activities throughout the trade fair,” she said.

Stop to Start chief executive officer Zwelibanzi Ndlovu encouraged teachers, lecturers and other participants to bring their students to attend the Scholastica expo to promote excellence and professionalism in the corporate world.

“It is important that students attend this expo to promote professionalism, excellence and provide relevant information on different careers to allow students to explore what they like,” said Ndlovu.
