A MAN from Nkayi who asked a 15 year old girl’s aunt to propose love to her on his behalf, allegedly raped the minor “as punishment” when he saw her walking with another man.

Moyomutsha Nyoni (39) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Tinashe Tashaya who remanded him in custody to 26 September for provision of a trial date.

He pleaded not guilty.

He resides in the same village with the complainant.

Prosecuting, Mr McLean Ndlovu said: “On June 18 at around 9PM complainant was persuaded to be in a relationship with accused by her aunt.”

The court heard complainant had her own boyfriend from the same village.

The prosecutor said when complainant was walking with her boyfriend she met Nyoni.

“As complainant was going home she met her boyfriend who asked her to accompany him to his home. On their way they met accused who tried to grab her but she ran away,” said Mr Ndlovu.

“Accused chased after complainant until he caught and dragged her to his home where he locked her in his bedroom hut,” he said.

The minor’s boyfriend fled and left her at Nyoni’s mercy.

“Accused stripped complainant, made her lie down on the floor and raped her once,” he added.

The court heard the next day accused instructed complainant to leave his home.

The prosecutor said the complainant told her sister what had happened. The sister informed complainant’s mother who accompanied her to the police to report the matter leading to Nyoni’s arrest.—@gwizi_n
