THE 21st annual South African Music Awards (Sama) weekend is almost upon us and it promises to be a night to remember. Social media has been abuzz over the past few days wondering who the host will be at the awards being broadcast live on SABC1 at 8PM on April 19.

HHP whose real name is Jabulani Tsambo was yesterday announced as the Sama agent for this year, after two years of the awards not having a host.

The annual South African Music Awards will be taking place at the Sun City Superbowl, South Africa.

HHP said: “I’m overwhelmed. I’m trying to control my excitement and I don’t want last minute press releases saying that someone else is available and that they made a mistake.”

The show has not had a host for the past two years, so HHP follows in the footsteps of the likes of Trevor Noah and Kabelo Mabalane.

“I follow after the likes of Trevor Noah and Kabelo who are both amazing. I remember sitting in the fourth row when Kabelo was hosting, I was looking in his eyes.

“He was flawless, I think I’m going to hit him up and ask that we meet for some coffee so I can get some tips from him,” HHP said.

The artiste who recently dropped his sixth studio album Motswako Hish School added: “I’m always advocating that motswako isn’t just a North West thing or Setswana thing, but a fusion of all genres.

“My album takes people on a journey of my music career spanning 15 years now, I took elements from my biggest tracks and made them fresh again.”

Co-hosting with HHP is sexy presenter, DJ turned actress, Lerato Kganyago who was also announced this week as a new member on SABC 2’s Muvhango.
