THE ramp is set for the second edition of Miss Zimbabwe Diaspora beauty pageant scheduled for Outer Limits Restaurant in Johannesburg on Saturday. The contest, aimed at giving Zimbabweans based in South Africa an opportunity to take part in beauty contests, will see a bevy of 17 models taking to the ramp. Former Miss Zimbabwe, Oslie Muringai and former Mr Bulawayo, Oliver Keith will be the hosts on the night.

Organiser of the event, Maynard Chizavare said they had secured prizes for the winners including cash and holiday packages.

“Those who will be crowned Miss Zimbabwe Diaspora, first and second princess will win holiday packages in Durban, while the queen will walk away with R5,000, a tablet and a holiday in Cape Town.

“The first princess will receive R3,000 and R2,000 has been set aside for the second princess,” Chizavare said.

He added that the lady who would be crowned queen and her two princesses would hopefully be entered into Miss Global and Miss Africa Mzansi.

Both pageants will be held next year.

The inaugural Miss Zimbabwe Diaspora held last year in Cape Town was won by Charlene Phiri with Wilma Munemo and Tanyaradzwa Mukarakate as first and second princesses.

Over the years, models who have been crowned at such pageants have been incorporated into contest for Miss Zimbabwe locally. But with the coming in of the new Miss Zimbabwe Trust, that is no longer the case as only locals or those who audition locally are considered for participation.
