BARCELONA striker Antoine Griezmann was jeered and booed by his own fans as he made his way into training.

The French striker was told it was ‘his fault’ that star man Lionel Messi has left the Spanish giants.

THE world of football was rocked late on Thursday night when it was announced that six-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi was leaving the Nou Camp.

Barca president Joan Laporta says the club’s ‘salary mess’ meant they could not afford to keep the 34-year-old on board.

He went on to explain that there were ‘no margins’ for negotiations with Messi, and admitted being shocked when presented with the finances of the club

Now Griezmann, earning £345 000-a-week, is bearing the brunt of fans’ anger.

The former Ateltico Madrid man was hounded as he drove into Barca’s Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training ground.

One fuming supporter was heard to shout “Messi has left because of you” as the realisation begins to set in that Barca will have to cope without their GOAT.

Barcelona chief Laporta gave an honest and open interview to reporters just hours after Messi left.

The Spaniard slammed the previous administration at the Nou Camp for leaving a ‘salary mess’ that resulted in their best player and club legend exiting.

This is despite Messi wanting to STAY with the Spanish giants. But Laporta did confirm the 34-year-old has ‘offers’ from other clubs.

And he confirmed that the Catalans simply could not afford to keep the striker on the books.

The Barca chief was asked if Messi could stay if LaLiga allowed a financial deal to happen.

But he answered: “We can’t live off dreams. I love dreaming, but it’s not the case, we have to talk about the reality.

“We had an agreement; we can’t register it.”

Then on whether Messi wanted to stay, he said: “He wanted to stay even if our offer was inferior to others he had.”
