THE completion of the construction of Hwata clinic in ward 6 is proof that Government’s devolution thrust is now bearing fruits for the Chirumhanzu community.

Hwata clinic is one of several projects undertaken by the Chirumhanzu Rural District Council using devolution funds it has been receiving from the Government.

Chirumhanzu Rural District Council has used part of the $11 million it got from Government to improve health service delivery, provision of clean water and making areas reachable by rehabilitating roads.

Part of the devolution funds were used to drill 16 new boreholes to make sure communities had easy access to potable water.

Nyamatikiti Bridge along the Chaka-Charandura road which connects communities in the northern parts of the district to Charandura Growth point, which houses the main GMB depot in the district and St Theresa Mission Hospital, was also rehabilitated using devolution funds.

Chief executive officer, Mr Lovemore Chatikobo said health and education facilities have been top on the development list.

“We have so far spent $2million in the construction of Hwata Clinic in Ward 6 which will be servicing about 5000 villagers. The project is 100 percent complete with the construction of the main clinic block already done. Two staff houses are also complete. It has been furnished, plumbing done and is fully equipped,” he said.

Mr Chatikobo said the RDC is also working on Musena Clinic in Ward 19 which is now at 50 percent completion.

“Musena Clinic is one of our devolution projects goals for 2021. So far, we have spent $1. 5 million for the construction of this clinic and a staff house. Construction of the main clinic block and staff house is now at window level. We are hoping to complete this project next year in January,” he said.

Mr Chatikobo said Chimbindi Clinic in ward 19 is also at 65 percent completion.

Other clinics being constructed by the RDC include Chapwanya Clinic in Ward 25 and Mudzengi Clinic in Ward 7 which will be a renovation of a farm house into a modern health centre.
