THE Government has released civil servants’ pay dates for this month with the Zimbabwe National Army and Air Force of Zimbabwe receiving their salaries yesterday.

The health sector will receive their salaries on Tuesday while police and Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services will be paid on Friday.

The education sector is expected to receive their salaries on August 29 while the rest of the civil servants will get paid on September 1.

Pensioners will receive their allowances on September 5.

Zimbabwe Teachers’ Association chief executive officer Mr Sifiso Ndlovu said it was welcome that the Government was paying salaries without defaulting.

Mr Ndlovu said the Government should start making arrangements to pay civil servants their 2017 bonuses.

“We want the Government to be clear regarding payments of 2017 bonuses because at the moment there is no clarity on that. We’re getting a hint on provision of housing stands as a substitute for monetary payments but we are receiving this information through the corridors. It has not been issued through the proper channels,” said Mr Ndlovu.

Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Prisca Mupfumira yesterday could not comment on the matter saying she was committed elsewhere.
“I’m busy at the moment I can’t talk,” said Minister Mupfumira. — @nqotshili
