CHRONICLE Senior Features reporter Factmore Dzobo on Sunday scooped the Sadc media award in the print media category at the 34th Sadc summit of Heads of State and Government opening ceremony in Victoria Falls.
Dzobo scooped the first prize shrugging off stiff competition from other media practitioners from 15 countries making up the bloc.
For his efforts, Dzobo received a certificate and walked away with $2,000 from Sadc.

His prizes were handed to him by outgoing Sadc chairperson and Malawian President Professor Peter Mutarika at a colourful ceremony which was attended by Regional Heads.

This is the second time that Dzobo has won in the same category following his success in 2012 where he graced the Sadc podium in Mozambique.

In an interview after coming out tops, Dzobo said he was humbled and elated by receiving the award.
“I feel highly honoured to have received the award for the second time in a row. I urge fellow journalists to highlight issues affecting the communities they operate in,” he said.

Also doing the country proud was Herald photographer Munyaradzi Chamalimba who scooped the best Sadc media award in the photojournalism category.

Chamalimba also walked away with $2,000 and a trophy.
Kudzai Ncube also shone as he came second in the Sadc Secondary Schools essay competition. For his efforts, Ncube walked away with $1,000, an iPad, an internet dongle and a sim card from NetOne.
