A NTEPE family in Gwanda, Matabeleland South are seek information that could lead to the whereabouts of their son, who reportedly went missing after being arrested facing a number of charges inclusive of being a public nuisance.

The family of Mr Molifeng Ndlovu are said to be demanding answers from authorities claiming that he was arrested on a number of charges but they were now failing to locate his whereabouts.

This is not the first time that Mr Ndlovu has been in the public domain, as in 2013 he reportedly suffered a kidney failure after being assaulted in a suspected politically motivated attack.

The family owns a popular braai spot at the Ntepe shopping centre in Gwanda. The spot was originally owned by Mr Ndlovu’s father, who was also a known MDC activist in the area and also died under unclear circumstances.

Close family members revealed that Mr Ndlovu had since revived the braai spot where he was not only entertaining members of the opposition MDC but it had also become a meeting area for members of the LGBTI community in the area.

“Molifeng took over his father’s business, he was also an active member of the opposition MDC where the party would constantly hold their district meetings at the premises. Further, he had been approached by members of the LGBTI community to also hold meetings there, of which he had consented, arguing that everyone deserves an equal opportunity.

“However, this then led him to attract the authorities and the wrath of the other business people in the centre, who reported him to the authorities for being a public nuisance./ The last we saw him is when the police arrested him but efforts to locate him ever since then have been fruitless,” said the family member who requested anonymity.

The family revealed that what worried them was that Mr Ndlovu had suffered a kidney failure back in 2013 when he was beaten in another politically related attack and hence was on medication.

“In 2013 he was already active in politics and was arrested where he was beaten and suffered kidney failure therefore the more we cannot locate him, the more we are worried because he needs his medication,” said the source.

A police source confirmed Mr Ndlovu’s arrested but professed ignorance on his whereabouts.

“Yes Mr Ndlovu was arrested for being a public nuisance over activities at his braai spot following complaints from neighbouring businesses, however, as for where he was taken to I wouldn’t know,” said the police source
