THE Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has said it moving with haste to distribute cotton inputs under the Presidential Inputs Programme.

In spearheading the programme, the GMB is working with Agricultural Advisory Services, Agricultural Marketing Authority, Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco), police and traditional leaders.

“The Government of Zimbabwe through GMB is providing transport for the distribution of inputs. The inputs are being provided free of charge and no transportation costs should be paid by farmers,” said GMB chief executive officer Dr Edson Badarai.

“Each farmer is receiving inputs for 0,5 hectares and the approved package is as follows; planting seed 10kg, basal fertiliser 50kg, top dressing 25kg, conventionals 1kg, pyrethroids 1litre, and aphicides 100g

“Farmers upon receiving inputs are expected to sign a contract with the Government of Zimbabwe which binds them to deliver their seed cotton to COTTCO.”
