Black Rhinos 1-0 Highlanders
ONCE again Highlanders saw their lead at the top of the table kept under check when they were edged by a determined Black Rhinos at Rimuka Stadium yesterday.
However, the result did not change Highlanders’ position at the top of the Castle Lager Premiership table.

It was a morale sapping defeat for Bosso in Kadoma, coming ahead of their epic Battle of Zimbabwe match against Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday.

A brilliantly executed goal by Lot Chiwunga in the 52nd minute suffocated visiting Highlanders as they saw Dynamos and ZPC Kariba catching up on 32 points.

Chiwunga’s goal helped to ease relegation worries in the army side and it was perfectly delivered as Chipembere gained their second victory in as many games.

It was sweet victory for Rhinos considering that Highlanders beat them 3-0 at Rimuka Stadium last season.
In scoring the goal, Chiwunga picked a loose ball and the defenders retreated, giving him ample time to rifle from the edge of the box a grounder which took a deflection off a defender before beating Ariel Sibanda in goal for the visitors.

Black Rhinos coach Jostein Mathuthu was naturally excited with the victory.
“I am over the moon because the boys played according to instructions. Highlanders is a big team and getting a win was not easy. I also salute the fans for rallying behind us,” said Mathuthu.

Under-pressure Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu took the defeat in his stride.
It was the third consecutive match that Kaindu’s team had failed even after he brought in stocky Njabulo Ncube who often has his back to goal despite being the targetman.

“To be honest with you it was a tough game and we lost to a good side and it’s very unfortunate that we did not utilise the chances that came our way. I don’t have any complaints with the turf,” said Kaindu.
