Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe is yet to be confirmed as Zimbabwe Football Association technical director despite the fact that it is now seven months since he assumed office.

The Zifa board is supposed to confirm his appointment which was supposed to be soon after completing the stipulated three months probation.

The underfire Jongwe started work on May 1, 2014.

Consultations should’ve been made between the Zifa board and organisation’s chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze.

Impeccable sources said Mashingaidze was ordered to submit to the board Jongwe’s performance appraisal but is yet to do so.

“The board is yet to confirm Jongwe as the technical director,” said a board member speaking on condition of anonymity.

Efforts to get a comment from Mashingaidze were unsuccessful as he wasn’t answering up his mobile phone since last Friday.

Communications manager Xolisani Gwesela refused to comment on the matter and referred the publication back to the head of secretariat.

Vice president Omega Sibanda also refused to comment as he said he was out of town on holiday.

“I can’t comment on such an issue, get in touch with the chief executive officer or the president of the association,” said Sibanda.

Zifa president Cuthbert Dube’s mobile phones were also not reachable.

Jongwe caused an uproar recently when he announced that Premier Soccer League coaches will with effect from this season not be allowed to sit on the bench unless they have a Caf A licence badge.

He said the move was part of the on-going club licensing drive.

Jongwe’s remarks riled many football administrators but Zifa board member, John Phiri while acknowledging the need for such a license, said the process would be gradual.
