FORMER Hwange chairman Joseph Zulu has bounced back to the helm of the football club after he was appointed chairman by club president and Hwange Colliery Company managing director Thomas Makore.

Zulu will be deputised by Sydney Nare while another former chairman Lovemore Sibanda comes in as treasurer. The two are well known seasoned sports administrators.

Bekithemba Sibanda also returns to the club management after he was given the secretary general portfolio with Artwell Ndebele coming in as organising secretary. Ndebele once ran a vibrant Division One football club in the coal mining town.

“I’m very pleased to announce that the persons listed below have been appointed to serve in the Hwange Football Club committee for the 2015/16 soccer season. This is our club and community team that serves as the brand and image of the company. I appeal to every member of the community to give maximum support and cooperation to the new club committee members,” wrote Makore in his letter of appointment.

Zulu takes over from Joseph Hove who resigned in January 2014.

The new committee comes against the backdrop of a slow start to the season by the Nation Dube coached boys that has seen them post just a single win in 10 matches so far.

However, the new executive can announce their return to mainstream football management by stopping the Chicken Inn juggernaut in a league match at the Colliery Stadium this Saturday.

The table toppers, fresh from another giant killing act that saw them prevail 2-1 over faltering Highlanders, take their act to the coal mining town, another previously intimidating venue that has, however, seen teams like Dongo Sawmill picking up precious points of late.

The league enters week 11 with focus once again set to fall on Chapungu, Triangle, Highlanders and Tsholotsho matches.

Chapungu are home to league debutants Flame Lily, a match John Nyikadzino’s boys are expected to win following their 2-1 victory away at Caps United last weekend. Triangle, under Kelvin Kaindu, have been scoring like its out of fashion, especially at Gibbo and Luke Masomere, the How Mine gaffer must use all his technical shrewdness if he is to avoid an embarrassing defeat. He has at his disposal tried and trusted football veterans in his side and can rightfully look forward to becoming the first team to stop Kaindu in his fortress.

Tshilamoya, a nickname that can of late be a complete opposite to what those who coined it wanted to convey, are home to Whawha while iziqholo zeZhwane and Dynamos will complete the week’s lineup of fixtures on Monday.
